18 OCTOBER 2007 GOING AWAY CELEBRATION AT LLOYD NOBLE CENTER, NORMAN, OK
This was a wonderful way to send off our citizen-soldiers! Living in Norman myself, and with the event beginning at 1500, I figured if I left the house about 1415 that would give me pleanty of time to arrive at the LNC, park, and get seated. WRONG! My bro' Tullyman called me at 1330 and said that he, sgTTed, Catcher, Raven, Star, and Scooby were waiting in line to enter the building....and that the line to get in was a mile long! Ok, a slight exaggeration, but still, the lines were very long! So, I jumped on the Wide Glyde and got my rear there, fast!
I-35 was completely backed up because of the influx of more than 12,000 people to the event! Frankly, I was surprised at the overwhelming number of people who came out to support their family, friends, and in our case (AVMC) to show support for those whom, like us, have worn the uniform of the country. I should also note, that somewhere in the sea of soldiers, is our State VP, "Lucky". Lucky has already served one tour in Afghanistan. He loves it so much (?) he's going back to the region for some more. I wonder if he managed to talk them into letting him take his M-14???? Probably not...hahaha! Also amongst the sea of camo is our brother "Ozzy" from the Enid Chapter! He is also deploying with the 45th. We wish our brothers and warriors God's speed......and return home soon!
Pictures are worth thousands of words. I hope you enjoy them. God bless these men and women! KEEP THEM IN YOUR PRAYERS!
